How disk sanitation works in netapp

Disk Sanitation


    Disk sanitization enables you to erase data from a disk or set of disks so that the data can never be recovered.


Before you can use the disk sanitization feature, you must install the disk sanitization license


Steps to follow:


1. verify the disk is listed in spare disk status using sysconfig -r 


2.  Sanitise the disk 
     
     Filer>disk sanitize start 0a.21 0a.22 0a.23


3. Check Disk Status
   
    Filer1>disk sanitize status 0a.21


4. Release the Disk 


   Filer1>disk sanitize release 0a.21
