Enabling deduplication for Snapmirror Volume

• Enable both the deduplication and SnapMirror licenses.
• Deduplication can be enabled on the source system, the destination system, or both the systems
• Deduplication can be enabled, run, and managed only from the primary storage system. However, the FlexVol volume in the secondary storage system inherits all the deduplication attributes and storage savings through SnapMirror.
• The volume SnapMirror update schedule does not depend on the deduplication schedule
• Deduplication can be enabled on destination filer without deduplicating  on source filer.

Enabling Deduplication on source or destination Volume

NAS> sis on /vol/testVol
SIS for “/vol/testVol” is enabled

Reschedule for nightly at 11pm

NAS>sis config -s sun-sat@23 /vol/testVol

Verify the new configuration

NAS> sis config /vol/testVol
