Windows Search for Outlook 2007

The Windows search will provide better performance for Searching outlook mail,Documents,attachments and network mapped drive.

Solution Steps:

1.Download the Package from Microsoft http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=55C18CB3-C916-4298-ABA3-5B98904F7CDA&displaylang=en
2.Install the Package and reboot the system
3.Enable this Feature in Outlook 2007 Go to ->Tools->options->preferences->search options->enable checkbox for indexing on your mailbox. After completion of your mail box indexing it will provide better performance
4.Enabling this feature for searching documents,attachments,network mapped Drive
5. Enabling this Feature Go to ->windows search ->windows search options->modify->you can add it here whatever you want.

  1. What about other search-tools which are especially made for Outlook? I think there are better tools than WDS (I have a lot of problems with it, mostly the indexed does not work and the search results are bad).

    Can you recommend WDS or did you also try such a search-tool?

  2. I have been using Windows search for outlook 2007,
    i don't have any problem in indexing and searching.If you want to search something means it will give exact result with highlighted color text.

    When you compare to Outlook default search tool Windows search is the better as my exp

    can u explain me briefly Indexing issue?are you using Exchange mailbox or something else?

  3. Hi,
    sometimes the indexer of WDS does not finish indexing. Or it indexes only items to a date 2 weeks ago. But sometimes it also works. I don´t know why.
    Search result are very often not satisfying, for example the search-term "peter" brings on the first try 30 hit and on the second 57.
    Thats frustrating. Also the search in a time-space does not work.

    Which outlook you are using outlook 2003 or 2007?

  5. Sorry for the late answer, I use outlook 2007 with a pop-mail account. I a bit frustrated of this problem, is there an alternative?
