Important AIX commands

AIX Unix:


Single User Mode -> Boot through maintainance mode

Alog Command:

Maintain and manage log and its read input and output file.

Boot file located in /var/log/adm/bootlog.

Viewing the Bootlog:
Alog –L

CFGMGR Command:

Only configure those devices at the system startup Powered on such as SCSI and tty.

Cfgmgr –v

Last Command:

It is used to display previous logon logoff recorded in /var/adm/wtmp file.

Last root console

Last shutdown

Bootlist Command:

Bootlist command allows displaying and alerting the list of boot system

Normal boot List

Service boot list

Command:

Bootlist –m normal –o

Bootlist –m normal hdisk0

UPTime Command:


MPCFG Command:

Mfcfg- df

AIX OS Installation:

Boot through cd Press F5 Key.

Find Boot Disk:

Lslv –m hd5

Recreate Boot Image :

Bosboot –a –d /dev/hdisk0


Set the Terminal Command:

Smitty tty or smitty maktty.


Installation Method:

Preservation Installation:

This installation overwrite the /usr,/tmp,/var and / it will lost this file.

/etc/preserve. List it will store the system files.


Enable Trusted Computing base:

It will provide extra level security. It will install bos.rte.security.If you have decided to not installe you later you need to reinstall Operating system.

Enable 64 Bit Kernel and JFS2:

Bootinfo –y type of hardware either 32 bit or 64 bit.

Jfs2 -> Enhanced Updated version Journaling File System JFS.

Filse Size is 1 Tera Byte
Maximum File Size – 4 Peta Byte
1 petaByte = 1024 Terra Byte

Configuration Assistant:

/usr/sbin/install_assistant start up set date and time and username and password.

Oslevel:
Oslevel –l

Installp Command:

Installp – r reject Software update

U - Uninstall
R – Reject software
C – clean interrupted installation
c – commit or update package.
d- spectify the device installation media
p – Preinstallation check
a – Apply one or more software update
g - automatically install or commit update
X – Attempt to expand the installation insufficient space

Installp –avx –d /usr/sys./inst.bos.net

Installp –cgx all

Reject:

Installp – rgbx ./reject.list

Remove:

Installp –ugp –v2

Clean Installation:

Installp –C

List the Software in CDROM

Install –L –d /dev/cd0

Smitty install_latest
Smitty install_latest
Smitty install_remove
Smitty update_all



Lslpp Command:

This will list all the installed software on this system

Lslpp –l

Lslpp –f bos.64bit

Lslpp –h bos.sysmgmt.trace

Download Fixes:

Fixdist - > it will download fixes

Instfix - > install particular update

Smitty bffcreate:

Installation files copied to hard disk for future installation

Lspv Command:
List the physical disk in the system.
Lspv

Removing Physical Volume:

Rmdev –l hdisk1

Paging Space:

Vmstat 5 -> it will show

Lsps –a -> provide the current utlisation of process.

Chps -> change attribute of process space

Lsps –a –c

Lsps –a

Lsps –s Total space and percentage used
